Both Wybers Boys and Girls Football teams qualified for the county championships in North Ferriby.

The boys were up first! After a tricky start the boys managed to secure a late win against Martongate with a much needed goal from Freddie! Our next game was against Westfield, who were too strong for the Wybers lads with them ending up on the wrong side of a 4-0 scoreline.

Luckily, the Wybers’ heads didn’t drop and they knew if they won their last game against Ings! After a prolonged period of dominance broke the deficit with Freddie and Bo both grabbing a goal in a 2-1 victory to send us to the semi finals!

In the semis the boys faced North Ferriby, it ended 0-0 in an intense battle with some ferocious defending from the Wybers defending. Unfortunately, North Ferriby grabbed a late goal in extra time to knock Wybers out.

But once again, Wybers didn’t let their head drops as they had to face Westfield again in the 3rd and 4th playoff! With much improved defending Wybers fought to the last breath and took the game to penalties. After the first two players from each side missed, Bo Taylor stepped up and nestled his into the back of the net to ensure they boys finished 3rd!

Next up was the girls who were drawn in a very hard group, their first game was against Willoughby Carr Lane. Although there was some fantastic defending, the girls fell to 2-0 defeat.

Like the boys they didn’t let their heads drop and secured a comfortable 2-0 win against Thanet thanks to two goals from Ella up top!

In the last game of the group, Wybers played Eastfield with the winner moving onto the semi finals. Eastfield grabbed an early goals and held on for the rest of the game with Wybers unable to break down their defence.

Even though Wybers’ didn’t make the semi-finals there were some fantastic performances from the girls especially the captain Shoshoni who was a rock at the back!
